Snorkelling Bay of Islands
With two epic spots planned for most of our trips, our main focus is in the No take zone of Deep Water Cove, with amazingly clear waters, it is filled with plentiful and varied marine life, which also makes it fun for us – as we never know what else will turn up… Explore a massive archway, amazing underwater scenery and have fun with cheeky fish that will make you laugh!
Even though the waters here are warm, we provide wet-suits so you can spend more time in the water, even a hot water rinse off for when you get out of the water as well as a cup of hot soup!
Not sure on the travel out there? Feel comfortable with 85% of our travelling time out to our snorkelling spots is in sheltered protected waters which provide amazing scenery to see along the way.
Our well travelled and experienced snorkellers are blown away with what our trip offers and have said it’s world class, and on a par with the Poor Knights here in NZ for the Snorkelling.
Our Vessel
Pelorus Belle, our super stable 8-metre catamaran, has been modified in 2019 with a unique fold-down platform for entering the water safely and super easily. When you exit the water there is a hot fresh water rinse off to warm you up.
There’s a comfortable cabin inside for warmth, an outside shaded area, and space fully out in the open for unobstructed enjoyment of the scenery and sun/sea spray on your face. With plenty of room, and numbers limited to 12 passengers, you are not restricted to one seat.
At Bay of Islands Snorkelling we care very much for the environment, so we have re-powered Pelorus Belle with two modern Yamaha 225HP outboard engines to improve her sustainability and to keep our carbon footprint as low as we can. These efficient state-of-the-art engines get us around the bay in no time!
Pelorus Belle has been a jack of all trades in her life, Crayfishing boat, taxi service, deliverer of goods, a charter fishing boat and now a great Snorkelling Boat!
