Ranfurly is about the mid-point on the Otago Central Rail Trail. If you are driving, Hawkdun Lodge is about 2 hours from Queenstown and 1.5 hours from Dunedin.
Central Otago Accommodation
Hawkdun Lodge is a quality motel-style complex offering a relaxing escape with an abundance of comfort, style and space.
We have 13 spacious units plus an indoor spa pool, guest laundry, secure bike storage and free WiFi.
If you wish to stay in and relax we have an attractive communal kitchen and lounge where you can make your own meal or enjoy one of our dining options.
Each of our suites has its own unique décor that reflects a place name or landscape feature from our area.
Choose from studio suites with ensuites or spa bath ensuites (1-2 people) and one bedroom suites (2-3 people). A family or larger group can be accommodated in our interconnecting (family) unit (4-6 people).

Guest Facilities
Hawkdun Lodge has a range of guest facilities and services to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible.
We have an indoor spa pool, secure bike storage room, communal kitchen and lounge, BBQ and WiFi. These facilities and services are all complimentary.
We also offer a guest laundry (fees apply).
We can organise transportation if guests wish to visit or dine in the neighbouring villages of Naseby, Wedderburn, Waipiata or Patearoa.
We can also recommend Rail Trail pick ups/ drop offs at different points along the trail.
We have a secure room within the complex to house bikes because many of our guests will be cycling the Rail Trail.
Included in the bike room is a bench for those who need to do any running repairs.
Hawkdun Room
For those who want to relax and stay put rather than going out in the evening we have a full kitchen and lounge for you to make your own meal or enjoy one of our dining options.
The kitchen has an oven, cook top, microwave, large fridge, dishwasher, pots, pans, crockery and cutlery. A BBQ is conveniently located nearby.
There are tables and chairs for dining indoors or a large outdoor table adjacent to the Hawkdun Room.
The room has comfortable sofas and chairs for socialising, a 42” wall mounted TV, a DVD, games, books and magazines. For comfort the room has a gas fire and two heat pumps for heating or cooling as required. The Hawkdun Room has a patio and catches the afternoon sun. It has views across the Maniototo countryside and is a great place to watch the sun set.
Continental breakfast is served in the Hawkdun Room (from 1st Sept till 1st May at $20 per person).
Conference/Meeting Venue
Hawkdun Lodge is a superb venue for business planning/strategy meetings away from the office. The meeting venue can comfortably accommodate up to 16 people around a boardroom table or whatever room configuration is required.

Maniototo’s vast landscape has been made famous by artists and photographers but there is much more – it is also known for its friendly locals, historic country pubs, fascinating history, quaint townships, successful farming, walking tracks, numerous cycling opportunities and home to the ancient Scottish game of curling with all its traditions.
