Mohaka River Farm is a 280-acre family owned and operated holiday park and working farm situated on the pristine Mohaka River. Offering accommodation in a scenic setting just minutes from State Highway 5 between Napier and Taupo, you’ll quickly find yourself transported to a peaceful retreat with endless opportunities to explore.

Accommodation Mohaka River, Hawke’s Bay
The clean and well equipped accommodation, available year round, include chalets, self-contained cottages and powered / unpowered camp sites.
The self-contained cottages are ideal for larger families and extended families coming together for celebrations. Campers and chalet guests make use of the updated and well equipped kitchen and BBQs and the camp fire areas are a great place for guests to spend evenings.
A-Frame Chalets
Set in the holiday park on the 280 acre Mohaka River Farm, with the beautiful Mohaka river just 150 m walk away our four chalets all give wonderful views over the river and down the valley. These chalets are great for couples or families with two children. The chalets have a queen bed on the ground floor, kitchenette, and a mezzanine loft area with two single mattresses, suitable for an extra adult or two children. Shower and toilet facilities are shared (camp bathrooms close by). There is room beside each of these cabins to pitch a tent if required. Linen and towels provided.
2 Bedroom Cottage
Tui Cottage is a warm and comfortable space set in the holiday park on the 280 acre Mohaka River Farm, with the beautiful Mohaka river just 150 m walk away. It is 20m from other accommodation sites with a veranda a BBQ, and a fire pit nearby. One large room has a queen and single bed, a smaller room has a bunkbed. The well supplied kitchenette has microwave, stove, pots/pans/crockery fridge/freezer. Linen and towels are provided. Free rural Wifi is available in designated areas of the holiday park. Guests enjoy exploring our family owned and operated working farm on our network of trails and roads and can enjoy first hand glimpses into farm-life. Opportunities exist for hands on experiences in self-sufficiency through seasonal farm activities across a variety of interests.
4 Bedroom Cottage
Set in the holiday park on the 280 acre Mohaka River Farm, with the beautiful Mohaka river just 150 m walk away, Bellbird Cottage is perfect for 1 – 2 families. It is warm and spacious and has plenty of rustic charm to compliment the modern bathroom and kitchenette. Linen and towels are provided. A long veranda with BBQ ties the 5 rooms together. Nearby Kiwi and Tui Cottages have a shared fire pit and picnic table. Kiwi Bellbird Guests can request tent sites close by for extra guests. There are horse treks available and a river to fish, swim or raft. (Wheel chair access on enquiry). Free rural Wifi is available in designated areas of the holiday park.
1 Bedroom Cottage
Kiwi Cottage is a warm and comfortable unit ideally suited for a couple who want a get away to a beautiful place. Adjoining Bellbird Cottage it can be rented as a stand alone or while family or friends stay next door in Bellbird. Set in the holiday park on the 280 acre Mohaka River Farm, with the beautiful Mohaka river just 150 m walk away Kiwi Cottage is the perfect place to unwind and recharge. Recently renovated kitchenette and bathroom, complete with BBQ for self-catering. Linen and towels are provided. There is a shared fire pit with other guests. There is enough space to fit a stretcher for a child.
Please note, as we are a working farm we don’t allow pets.
Napier Horse Trekking
There is no better way to explore the farm and take in the stunning surroundings than on horseback. Our herd of 14 horses have lived together on the property for many years and love being ridden. We offer 1, 2 and 3 hour treks for groups of 2 to 10 people and any experience level.

Fishing Mohaka River
There are several excellent fishing spots on the Mohaka River accessible from the farm. Permits are necessary and can be purchased at fishandgame.org.nz.
Cruise Ship Shore Excursions from Napier
A Country Experience at Mohaka River Farm
Our tour gives Cruise Ship Guests a genuine NZ back country experience and chance to meet local people living and working on the land. Enjoy the narrated tour on the Coast to Mountains Scenic Drive as we take you to our 280 acre working farm on the banks of the beautiful Mohaka River.
You’ll get a slice of NZ Country Life with opportunities to take a scenic riverside walk, observe resident crafts people demonstrating their crafts and purchase quality hand crafted souvenirs, see the farm animals, enjoy fresh country fare and pick up some homesteading skills on the way. There is also scope to customise the tour to meet special interests.
The bus will pick you up from either 2 Wharf or 6 Wharf at the Napier Port and take you directly to Mohaka River Farm passing through Esk Valley, climbing over the Maungaharuru Range, crossing high over the Mohaka River to the farm.
