Nelson Cycle Hire is conveniently located at Nelson Airport and Nelson’s wonderful Great Taste Trail starts right there.
We can provide everything you will need for safe enjoyable trail riding.
Our Avanti bikes and ebikes offer comfort no matter what the terrain as Avanti have used years of experience of the Otago Rail Trail to produce the ideal Trail Bike.
These cycles are “bullet proof”, have comfort features for on or easy off road riding including an upright riding position and a soft saddle. They are equipped with front fork suspension, and come in a range of sizes.

We cater for all types of cyclist and will design a bespoke tour to meet your needs, cycling ability, interests and budget or you can choose from one of our range of existing tours, alternatively you can simply hire a bike and do it your way.
You can carry your own luggage in our panniers or you can enjoy the ease of having your luggage transferred to your hotels. You can be guided or self-guided (we supply maps and comprehensive trail notes), and take a day off from cycling to enjoy some of the regions other activities which we can organise for you.
In addition to the wonderful Great Taste Trail, Nelson has well established shorter cycle trails which allow riders to access a variety of local attractions such as the coastal beaches, the boulder bank, the rivers and reserves that nestle behind the Grampians and of course the Nelson and Richmond facilities such as parks, theatres, sports grounds, cafes, bars and restaurants.
Nelson E-bike Hire
Our chosen supplier for our luxury Ebikes is Nelson-based Hybrid Bikes Ltd and we are proud to offer these versatile Ebikes for hire. These carbon fibre bikes are superlight weight with high performance motor, and high spec components; and with their super sprung seats and posts offer a high degree of comfort.
Our range also includes Scott (powered by Bosch) and Avanti (powered by Shimano) ebikes in both low step and standard formats and all feature front suspension and comfort seats. Typical range distance, depending on the model of Ebike ranges from 90-120 km. Ebike options include low step models for ease of mounting and dismounting.
We also have in the fleet a powerful ebike called the Silence which features 2 batteries. No more range anxiety! With this bike you can go further and faster. Especially great if you have limited time in which to get around our beautiful Great Taste Trail.
