Fine linen sheets, top quality duvets, hand crafted furniture, local New Zealand art, all add to the ambiance of the spectacular wilderness setting.
All rooms are equipped with private ensuites, writing desk, luggage storage, hairdryer, heated towel rails, and bath robes.
There are two guest rooms in each of the two wings of the building enabling the rooms to be quite remote from the main activities area on the ground floor.
All guest rooms, and the entire lodge, have wireless connection and the lodge offers an i-pad for use in the guest rooms for in-house entertainment if required.
Breakfast can be served on the guest room private balconies if required.
Each room has a super king bed that can split to two singles, allowing the lodge to accommodate 4 couples or 8 singles at a time.

Special Hire Available
If you desire complete privacy, the entire lodge can be yours for exclusive use. 4 bedrooms with Super King beds or twin room configuration allows for eight adults and we can also provide roll-out beds for small children. Rate includes, complimentary pre-dinner drinks served with canapes’, a four course gourmet dinner, and a full cooked breakfast for eight adults. The Lodge is fully serviced daily, staffed for breakfast and dinner and comes complete with bar, sun room, games room, pool table, large dining area and an open style kitchen.
Convenient helicopter access and security gates if required, making this Lodge a very private location.
All rooms have private en-suites, and balconies with views of the river and mountains.
A minimum stay of three nights is required.
Fly Fishing Motueka River
This region repeatedly records the most sunshine hours of all of New Zealand, combined with the crystal clear waters and dozens of rivers and streams to choose from, the guided fly fishing experience offered from Stonefly Fishing Lodge can be most memorable. Average catch size of brown trout in this region is approx 4lb-5lb, with catches of 8lb plus quite common and the chance of a trophy 10lb brown trout may only be a cast away.
The wide choice of rivers available from Stonefly Fishing Lodge enables guests to experience relatively gentle flowing easy access rivers to more adventurous back country streams requiring more accurate casting and a suitable level of fitness. The location also allows a wide choice of rivers from different catchment systems enabling the fly fishing guides to pick the most appropriate fly fishing destination according to the various flow rates at a particular time of year.
Access to Dozens of Fly Fishing Streams
Stonefly Fishing Lodge is ideally situated on the banks of the Motueka River between the confluence of the Wangapeka River and the confluence of the Baton River allowing our guests immediate access to some of the best fly fishing waters in New Zealand.
Further afield, within an hours drive, guests can access dozens of quality fly fishing streams and rivers within the Nelson Lakes and northern Murchison region. With the aid of a helicopter dozens more fly fishing locations become available to guests at Stonefly Fishing Lodge targeting the ever assertive wild brown trout.
About Stonefly Lodge
This multi-award winning lodge has been recognised for excellence in its environmental sensitive development and environmental sustainability. The total complex is powered by alternative energy sources built on-site to reduce the project’s environmental footprint.
The interior focuses on the large stone double sided fireplace which provides the ambiance to the games room, dining room and sunroom. A large open kitchen adjoining the dining area offers the relaxed atmosphere where guest dine together, or private dining opportunities can also be catered for. Breakfasts can be served on the guest room private balcony. The cuisine is made fresh from the extensive garden with home made produce, local quality meats and fresh seasonal seafood. Special diets are easily catered for.
Complete with library, a snooker table, and the “Matai Bar”, guests will have the ideal setting to relax after an exciting days fly fishing or after exploring the numerous sites and attractions of the local region. Four guest rooms are located upstairs complete with ensuites, heated towel rails, and private balconies overlooking the Motueka River and surrounding mountains.
The upper landing area above the dining room provides a quiet secluded place to utilise our fly tying area and guest computer or just indulge in a game of chess or relax with a good book, before retiring to your accommodation.
The property has been designed for entertainment and will be an ideal “sole use” facility for private functions, weekend getaways or exclusive events.
