The Great Ponsonby Arthotel, established over 20 years ago, is a renovated villa located in a heritage neighbourhood.
Beautifully decorated with original New Zealand and Pacific Island artworks, filled with books, magazines, music and persian rugs, you will feel at home and relaxed in our welcoming environment.
Set within a lovely garden alongside a park there are 11 rooms to choose from (either villa rooms, courtyard studios or spacious suites).

Ponsonby, an urban village, is one of the earliest areas of Auckland and luckily many of the historic buildings still remain. It is also the trendiest part of town, a place where Aucklanders come to eat, drink coffee and have fun. It is very close to Auckland city centre. So, the Great Ponsonby, set in a large, beautiful garden is in the most perfect place from which to explore Auckland.
Ponsonby Accommodation
All the villa rooms have furniture crafted by a Danish craftsman in NZ using rimu, a native timber. All have a writing desk and private bathroom. We use eco friendly, non allergic soaps, shampoos and cleaning products.

Downstairs – 4 downstairs rooms. Three have a French doors onto a deck with a quick exit for smokers. Upstairs – Can have twin beds, no deck.
Courtyard Studios
These quirky studios are across the courtyard from the main house. They feature superbly appointed kitchenettes, and are roomy with Leather couch. Twin, queen, king beds.
Palm Villa Suites
These large and gorgeous suites are furnished with exotic Turkish carpets, leather couch, super king, or twin beds. Additional beds are available. Soak in a tub or lounge in the Palm Garden. Perfect for that special occasion.
Penthouse
Spacious, open plan sleeping, dining room and lounge. King or twin beds, leather couch. Watch the sun set over the Waitakere Range from the balcony. Private bathroom with separate shower and bath.
