The Honest Lawyer was first opened in 1995, but could easily be mistaken as an English Country Pub. With a stunning view of the Waimea Estuary and the mountains in the distance, our location and establishment are one of a kind.
In the Summer there’s plenty of seating outside, a Giant Chess Set, and beautiful grounds with an orchard, and paths winding around the water’s edge.
The Winter months are a perfect opportunity to relax near the fire, try our Mulled Wine and a hearty meal. Our relaxed atmosphere and stunning surrounds keep the locals and regular visitors coming back.
Inside, there are knick-knacks, historic drawings and memorabilia. Whether you’re after a hearty pub meal, a relaxing drink, or somewhere unique to rest your head, we provide it all under one roof. If a Country Pub & Hotel is what you’re picturing then you won’t be disappointed!
Nelson Accommodation Options
Deluxe King Room. Sleeps up to 2. Our Cottages are situated in an adjacent building with views of the Point and the orchard, parking and a table and chairs outside each room.
Rose Cottage. Sleeps 2. Rose Cottage is situated in an adjacent building and boasts a king-size bed and sitting room. It has its own parking, a small front garden and a accessible en-suite bathroom. The unit offers privacy and comfort and is perfect for a longer stay. This room has basic cooking facilities, including a Toaster, and a Hot Plate.
Standard King Room. Sleeps up to 2. All of our rooms have en-suites and facilities to make your stay as comfortable as possible, including free tea and coffee, internet access, hairdryers, ironing facilities and heating. Portacots and room service are available on request. These rooms are located upstairs in our Hotel and several rooms have a bath. Please request at the time of booking and subject to availability.
Standard Twin Room. Sleeps up to 2. Our Twin Single rooms are all furnished to reflect the English character of The Honest Lawyer. Each has a king single configuration, and en-suite bathroom with large double shower.These twin rooms are located upstairs in our Hotel.
Single Room. Sleeps up to 1. Our single room is furnished to reflect the English character of The Honest Lawyer. The room has a King single bed, and en-suite bathroom with shower. This room is located upstairs in our Hotel.
A rollaway bed is available on request.
