Franz Josef Hot Tub Experience
Your Waiho Hot Tub experience includes an hour relaxing in your own private tub filed with beautiful mountain stream water. You are in control of the temperature, simply open up the damper on the fire or add a bit of cold water to get the temperature just right. Each site has it’s own changing rooms, with bathrooms on site.
We are found at the north end of Cron Street, opposite the Department of Conservation visitor centre.

Our Story
The Waiho River, which loosely translates as ‘smoky waters’, flows from Franz Josef Glacier to the Tasman Sea. Legend has it that the river was formed from the tears of Hinehukatere, frozen in a glacier. In ancient times she was mountain-climbing with her beloved, Wawe, and witnessed him fall to his death. To this day, the Maori name for Franz Josef Glacier is Ka Roimata-a-Hinehukatere, or the tears of Hinehukatere. We created Waiho Hot Tubs to give you an unforgettable experience of the West Coast. One that connects you to the incredible landscape and its people.
