Wild Coast Ruapuke offers multi-day horseback adventures across our Waikato farm and up Mt Karioi, where you will enjoy stunning views of the beach, ocean, and rolling valleys.
Our horse treks take you through native bush, over streams, and down to the beautiful Ruapuke Beach.
Our horse trekking packages include off-the-grid accommodation in our eco cabins, perched on the edge of a valley covered by native bush, with views of both the Tasman Sea and Mount Karioi. These studio-style cabins are off the grid but equipped with all the essential amenities to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Multi-day horseback adventures in coastal Waikato wilderness.
Extreme Multi Day Ride
Arrive early in the morning and get settled in. Come down to the shed for lunch and to meet your horse before heading off on a 3-hour afternoon bush ride up into the mountainside. You will return to a classic kiwi burgers and beers meal as the day ends. Head back to your cabin for an outdoor bath or another wine on the deck watching the sunset.
The next morning we will set off early heading to the beautiful volcanic black sand beach for a long day ride with a lunch break overlooking the ocean. We will ride into wild west coast ocean for a splash around and absolutely have a good canter along the beach. A bucket list for many!! Once back at the end of the day you’ll have one more farm fresh meal with us and another night in the cabin before your leave in the morning at your leisure.
Minimum of 9 hours riding total. Every ride will differ from the last. Our incredibly experienced guides and horses will make sure you have the time of your life!
$1,450 (NZD) per person. Intermediate to Advanced riders only.
The Travellers Pack
We have designed a package for travelers who crave an extreme multi-day ride but only have time for a one-night stay. This package includes two half day rides, each lasting 2 1/2 hours, one in the afternoon and one the next morning, along with an overnight stay in our eco cabins. It also includes a light lunch upon arrival, dinner that evening, and breakfast at your cabin.
$1,100 (NZD) per person. Intermediate to Advanced riders only.

We established Wildcoast in 1999 with a vision to create a place where people could rest, rejuvenate, and reconnect with nature. Thus, our eco cabins and horse adventures were born!
Our passion for animals has always been at the heart of Wildcoast. We started this venture to share our love of horses and our stunning scenery with others, offering a unique experience for horse trips in Waikato, New Zealand.
Our commitment to the environment significantly influences how we operate. We prioritise the trees, birds, fresh water running through our farm, and the surrounding mountain. We have fenced off a quarter of our 120-acre property, allowing it to revert to bush, and planted hundreds of trees to aid in regeneration.
We believe in the power of individuals to make a difference. Our focus is on sustainable tourism and farming, and we hope that when guests stay with us, they become more aware of their environment and experience off-the-grid living, even if just for a short time.
